This past August Keith and I went to the beach for a few days. The morning of my 34th birthday we walked to the beach, sat in the sand and watched the sunrise. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Later that day I swam in the ocean for the first time in well over ten years. Giving in and letting the waves take hold of me was so liberating and a whole lot of fun!
I recently came across this quote about grief:
This is a great analogy that I have found to be true in my own grief journey. Over the last nine months I have had to learn to swim in this unpredictable ocean of grief. At any given moment, I can be calmly going about my day and suddenly become overwhelmed with emotion. I have learned to take each emotion it as it comes and not be ashamed to “feel my feelings.” I have also learned to fully rely on the One who is always with me and who has the ability to calm this ocean of grief when it becomes too overwhelming.
