A Rainbow

My Story

“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” Genesis 9:13-15

On May 5, 2012, in the middle of our weekend of worry and fear, I saw a rainbow. At that moment the anxiety of worrying about the unknown brought me to tears. The rainbow reminded me of God’s promises and for a brief while I felt peace.

This rainbow sighting came on the verge of a huge storm in my life. A storm I was not expecting and did not feel prepared to face. God sent a storm our way, but, just as He promised, He did not allow it to destroy us. In fact, it has done the opposite. It has made us stronger. We are stronger in our faith and stronger in our relationship. God was with us every step of the way and is with us still. What a comfort it is knowing that whatever storms we will face in the days ahead God will be there.
